IRS Economic Impact Payments

The Federal Government has begun distributing the first wave of Economic Impact Payments to assist in the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. For most people, payments will be automatic and no action is needed. For information on these payments, please visit the IRS Economic Impact Payment Information Center website

To assist in tracking the status of your Economic Impact Payment, the IRS has developed a “Get My Payment” tool that can be found here. This tool allows you to:

  • Confirm your payment type (direct deposit or mailed check).
  • Enter bank account information for direct deposit, if you would otherwise receive a check payment.
  • See the date your payment is scheduled to be direct deposited or mailed.

Additionally, we urge you to continue to be cautious of scam artists looking to take advantage during this time. The IRS has stated that they will not call, text you, email you or contact you on social media asking for personal or bank account information – even related to the economic impact payments.

We're here for you.

Border Bank is a Small Business Administration Certified Lender, and we are pleased the United States Congress has passed the CARES Act, which will empower the SBA and banks to provide much needed aide to business customers during this challenging time.

Congress has given the SBA seven to fifteen days to design the CARES Act guidelines. As soon as those guidelines are released, our bank officers will have immediate access to programs. The guidelines could be released as soon as Friday, April 3.

It is very important business owners secure their information about the CARES Act from either the SBA or their loan officer. Fraudsters have been quick to develop schemes to grab attention with offers to assist, all for the criminal purpose of securing private information. For accurate information, please go to: www.sba.gov, or contact one of our loan officers.

Border Bank has been successfully serving customers during good times and challenging times for nearly 85 years.

We’re here for you now – and always.

An Update from Border Bank CEO David L. Felch to our customers, and the communities we serve regarding COVID-19.

Beginning Thursday, March 19, 8:00 AM, customers should use the drive throughs or online banking for their banking needs at all our locations throughout Minnesota. Access to bank lobbies is being temporarily suspended as a measure to protect our customers and employees from exposure to COVID-19.

Please know we are continuously monitoring the latest developments regarding COVID-19 and will continue to take precautions as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control, and the Minnesota Department of Health. The well-being and health of our customers, employees, friends and communities are our top priority.

It is important to note we will continue to meet all our customers’ banking needs for service and products. If you have business and paperwork you are currently engaged in with one of our bankers, arrangements will be made to ensure your financial needs and timelines are met. If you would like to open an account, apply for a commercial, consumer or home loan – we are here to get it done. Call the bank and we will make arrangements to provide you the exceptional service we deliver on a daily basis.

Banking opportunities include:

We encourage you to manage your accounts using online and mobile banking.

Please be aware criminals are looking to take advantage of people who are fearful. It is unwise to carry large amounts of cash on you and cash has touched many hands. Debit and credit cards worked just fine even during the financial crisis of 2008-2009 and will continue to work in this environment. Avoid purchasing anything from someone promising a cure, special soap or the official COVID-19 super mask; there is no such thing. Be prudent, take reasonable precautions and do not panic.

We’re here for you.  For 85 years, we have dedicated ourselves to serving our customers, employees and the communities we call home. We are a safe and sound financial institution and remain steadfast in our mission to be here for you. If you have experienced a disruption in income as a result of COVID-19 and need assistance, please reach out to one of our personal bankers to learn how we might be able to help.
