Border Bank Marks 90 Years of Trust, Growth, and Community Commitment

On August 9, 2025, Border Bank proudly celebrates 90 years of community banking—an enduring legacy built on trust, personal relationships, and deep civic engagement.

“What began in 1935 as a hometown bank serving the agricultural heartland of Greenbush, Minnesota has grown into something much greater,” said Kory Shae, CEO of Border Bank. “While ag remains a valued part of our heritage, today we serve a diverse mix of businesses and individuals who rely upon our expertise, experience, local decision-making and genuine connection.”

With 11 branches across 10 markets—including Coon Rapids, Thief River Falls, Middle River, Greenbush, Roseau, Badger, Baudette, International Falls, Clearbrook, and two locations in Fargo, North Dakota—Border Bank remains as committed as ever to its mission of serving people, not just accounts.

“Our longevity comes from the strength of our relationships. We’ve helped families across multiple generations save, build, and grow. Whether you’re a customer who walks through our doors or someone who connects with us online from miles away, you’re part of the Border Bank story,” Shae added.

Shae emphasized Border Bank’s continued success wouldn't have been possible without the loyalty of its customers and the dedication of its employees. “As we mark 90 years, I want to extend my deepest thanks to everyone who’s been part of this journey. To our customers—you’ve placed your trust in us and allowed us to grow alongside you. To our employees—your commitment and care have built the culture that defines Border Bank. You are the reason we’ve thrived for nine decades, and you’ll be the reason we thrive for decades to come.”

Border Bank’s culture is deeply rooted in civic involvement. Decisions are made locally, and employees are active members of their communities. “We stand shoulder to shoulder with our neighbors—not just as financial partners, but as fellow citizens invested in making life better in the communities we call home,” Shae said.

To celebrate this milestone, all Border Bank locations will host open houses for the public during regular business hours on Friday, August 8. Guests can enjoy cupcakes, enter prize drawings, and join in honoring the past, present, and future of community banking at Border Bank.
