Are you preparing to pack up your belongings and search for a new home? It may be helpful to put your required documents for you home loan in a folder that is easily accessible.

Typical documents required for your mortgage include:

  • Two most recent paystubs
  • Last two years of W2’s
  • Current driver’s license, or identification card
  • Homeowner’s insurance statement (insurance for a new home) or the contact information of your insurance agent (we can call them for you).
  • Two months of bank statements from the account(s) your loan closing funds will be coming from. The statements must show your account number, along with your name.
  • On occasion, the last two years of tax statements may be required.

Keep in mind every home loan is different and you may be required to provide additional documents that are not stated in the “typical required documents” list.

A typical home loan process can take anywhere from 30 – 45 days on average. Be sure to give yourself adequate time to gather all your required documents.

Below are some helpful tips for once you have moved into your new home:

  • Transfer or set up utilities.
  • Set up cable or internet.
  • Update your accounts with your new mailing address.
  • Set up autopay for your new home loan.
  • Before buying furniture or appliances, measure the space to ensure they will fit.
  • Unpack room by room (less overwhelming).

Moving can be stressful, so we hope these tips can make your journey of new home ownership less overwhelming and more enjoyable.
